THE HEAD OF THE REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE OF THE FAROE ISLANDS IN RUSSIA PAID A WORKING VISIT TO CJSC “SAWMILL 25”
Invited by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Arkhangelsk region Hákun Jógvanson Djurhuus has visited CJSC “Sawmill 25” (the Faroes – an autonomous region and a group of islands in the northern part of the Atlantic ocean between Scotland (the Shetland islands) and Iceland make part of the Kingdom of Denmark).
On the first day of his visit Mr. Djurhuus examined the production facilities of the Maimaksa site of CJSC “Sawmill 25” (a part of Titan Group). “The Faroe Islands purchase boards in Denmark, Hákun Djurhuus told. – As a rule, this is a product of the Russian sawmills, but the price of this product is one third higher, than it could be, if we bought it, for example, in Arkhangelsk. I see modern production facilities, which product meets the highest requirements and I would like our business to use it when constructing and finishing buildings in the Faroe Islands”.
The specialists of CJSC “Sawmill 25” showed Mr. Djurhuus the entire production process for sawn wood fabrication including the stage of the ultrasonic test for moisture and strength.
The representative of the Faroes Islands was also shown the pellet production. The high quality, low ash content when burnt and a high eco-friendliness of CJSC “Sawmill 25” pellets conquered the European market long ago – today the citizens of Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands heat their houses with these pellets. The representative intends to present the company’s technology to his country.
Let us remind that based on the outcomes of 2017 CJSC “Sawmill 25” increased the volume of raw timber sawing as compared to the same period of the last year by 15.58% up to 1 338 thousand m³, the production volume for export sawn timber – by 15.46% up to 577 thousand m³, wood pellets - by 16.37% up to 134 thousand m³, process wood chips - by 7,43% up to 334 thousand m³. Based on the outcomes of the last year the export supplies share in sales has amounted to 99.4 %, wood pellets – 84.1%.
As earlier General Director of CJSC “Sawmill 25” Dmitry Krylov stated, the company practices direct sales. Mainly the sawmill exports to the countries of Western Europe (France, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, Ireland, Belgium). Besides it exports to the Northern Africa (Egypt) and the counties of the Middle East, the Asian market (China), etc.
“We occupy a serious niche with the European consumers, who are interested in high quality materials. With them we, in many cases, are the main supplier of timber and the Swedish and Finish producers only supplement our products. Thus, our buyers do not see the difference in quality as compared to the Scandinavian concerns”, - Dmitry Krylov indicated.
