TITAN GROUP HAS TESTED A PATROL DRONE
Titan Group has completed test flights for its patrol drone. The equipment was purchased under cooperation with the Agency for regional development of Arkhangelsk region, the forest industry cluster “PomorInnovaLes” and the Arkhangelsk center of unmanned technologies.
The quadrocopter and its capabilities were tested in Ust-Pokshengskiy separate division of Titan holding. This is one of the largest logging companies in Arkhangelsk region. The projected felling area is 723 thousand m³.
As they note in the holding the test flights were successful. The small unmanned aircraft showed a great potential. Using the drone it is possible to monitor rates of logging and construction of timber truck roads, estimate skill of operators and drivers.
Also the drone usage greatly reduces the time for examination of plots; it allows to see correspondence of a logging site development with the technological map, availability of non-skidded and not removed timber at skid trails and loading sites, availability of undercuttings and biotopes. The equipment allows exploring areas of suggested fellings. Using the drone it is possible to rapidly evaluate the species planting composition, availability of windfalls, marshy areas, areas with major hills as well as to see the route of a suggested road or mark a route for a new one.
According to Titan Group specialists’ estimations under the field conditions the quadrocopter DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise proved itself well. Therefore, the holding has decided to purchase one more. Soon the drone will enter service at Karpogorskoe subdivision of the holding.
