TITAN GROUP HAS SHIPPED 700 THOUSAND M3 OF PULPWOOD DURING NAVIGATION 2020
Titan Group has closed navigation 2020. 700 thousand m3 of timber was shipped by water transport, which is by 20% more than last year.
Due to an anomalously warm winter only two rafts were fabricated (in 2019 - 19 rafts were fabricated with total volume 220 thousand m³). In 2020 the main rafting was done by barges. Flat-bottomed cargo vessels shipped 670 thousand m3 of timber, which exceeds the figures of the previous year almost two times.
Navigation lasted 172 days this year: it started on April 17 and finished in early November by delivery and unloading of barges at Arkhangelsk PPM.
As earlier reported LLC White Sea Floating Company performs river transportation of pulpwood for the holding.
Now LLC White Sea Floating Company is the largest shipping company on the Northern Dvina. Its own fleet counts 20 tugboats, 5 floating cranes and 25 barges.
Over the last years the company has been expanding and upgrading its own fleet. This year the logistic company of Titan Holding has purchased an E-Crane 1000 series (the first E-Crane in the region and only the third in the country). According to Ivan Pukanov, Director of LLC White Sea Floating Company, this year the equipment worked in a pilot mode at the loading terminal Bolshaya Svaga of Verkhnetoemsky LPH, the river trials showed a good result: one E-Crane replaces four domestic floating cranes; a barge loading takes 4 hours.
As they indicate at Titan Group, the river shipping of round timber allow reducing transport expenditures as well as stress on the Pomorie roads. The holding will further develop the alternative strategy of pulpwood delivery.
