VLADIMIR KRUPCHAK PRESENTED THE SAINT-TRINITY ANTONIY-OF-SIA MALE MONASTERY WITH A BELL-GOOD NEWS IN HONOR OF THE 500TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CLOISTER
n 2020 the Saint-Trinity Antony-of-Sia male monastery celebrates the 500th anniversary of the cloister, which is one of the ancient orthodox temple centers in the Russian North.
The cloister was founded in 1520 by the reverend Antony on the peninsula of the Big Mikhail’s lake in the present Kholmogory district of Arkhangelsk region.
The monastery life regenerated in 1992 after almost 70 years of oblivion. Great efforts are made to restore the oldest Saint cloister. Spiritually-educational, social-charitable, missionary activities are carried out here. And the most important: masses renewed. The walls of the cloister are filled with prayers again. After almost 30 years much has been done but also a lot will be done. Restoration of the monastery bell tower in the upper part of the temple is essential for masses. The bells are named after three Moscow Hierarchs.
In honor of this event significant for the entire Russian Orthodox Church a member of the Boards of directors for Arkhangelsk PPM, Titan Group and CJSC Sawmill 25 Vladimir Krupchak has bought a festive bell-good news for the cloister. The bell will complete the set of bells, and this will serve a full restoration of the bell tower of Sia monastery so needed for all the masses.
The purchase of the main bell – the festive bell-good news – is a great support of efforts of the monks and the diocese of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogory archdiocese in restoration of the Saint cloister. This will become a vivid event in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Saint cloister.
The bell was delivered from Voronezh on July, 12. The hegumen Pheodosy, the monastery monks as well as a master of chime Vladimir Petrovsky met the valuable load at the monastery.
The bell weighs 2 t; its height is 1.5 m, width – 1.45 m. The bell composition contains bell bronze (copper 75% and tin 25%). The upper part of the bell is decorated with traditional ornaments and the signature: «Bring good news, great joy to the Earth».
In the central part of the bell on four cardinals there are four icons: the icon of Saint Blessed Duke Alexander of the Neva, Saint great martyr Dmitry Solunsky, Saint martyr Fotinia and Equal Apostles Kiryll.
